about

Rawa & Andi decided to share this song for a reason in this particular moment in time, while the world is suffering under the COVID-19 pandemic.
Their wish is bidirectional: all incoming money goes to the Shipibo-Conibo community to buy strongly needed medicine and goods while sending a healing musical message to the listeners of the world in these times.

The song iitself intended as a gift. Payment is voluntary and is donated to Asociación Civil Despensa Amazónica to buy medical aid for the Shipido-Conibo Community.

Some years ago Rawa, singer and artist from Shipibo-Conibo community of the Amazonas region of Ucayali and Berlin based electronic musician Andi Teichmann met in Lima, Peru, for a spontaneous recording session.
The recorded song “Sinkitanan non kaya itan shinan bensho anon akanwe” is an icaro. It can be translated as "We unite to heal our souls”.
The icaro is part of an ancient tradition that the Amazonian Shipibo Konibo communities use in the ceremonies, as part of a healing ritual. This song is a sacred vibration, a song that carries a message of love that unites, cheers and heals our bodies and souls.
Rawa is singing, Andi is using the signal of his voice to create electronic sound-spheres around it. It has been recorded as a catch of the moment in a single live-take.

The Shipibo population settled in San Francisco, Ucayali, a community of artisans and healers who keep alive their ancient traditions, also known for being the birthplace of important ayahuasca masters, has suffered the ravages of a first devastating wave, along with dengue fever, which killed not only hundreds of people, including some wise healers as Senen Pani, father of Rawa, but also the local economy that was sustained by tourism.

Like always, the effect caused by the virus reflects the inequality. In the middle of the third COVID-19 wave, conditions continue to be precarious and the presence of the state is null. This results in medicine shortages for the treatment of patients: mattresses, blankets, paracetamol, even the most basic medical aids is missing. Therefore support is needed.
